Don't Let Them Put You to Sleep!

Here are the lyrics to another song that has helped my "blue state blues", despite the fact I live in a "red" state. I have always thought that the writer of the song intended the lyrics to be be from the point of view of Bush and/or his administration. When one interprets the lyrics as such, they become even more haunting.

a Perfect Circle
"Pet"

Don't fret precious I'm here, step away from the window
Go back to sleep

Lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come

Counting bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums

Pay no mind to the rabble
Pay no mind to the rabble

Head down, go to sleep
To the rhythm of the war drums

Pay no mind what other voices say
They don't care about you, like I do, like I do
Safe from pain and truth and choice and other poison devils,
See, they don't give a fuck about you, like I do.

Just stay with me, safe and ignorant,
Go back to sleep
Go back to sleep

Lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come
Count the bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums

Pay no mind to the rabble
Pay no mind to the rabble

Head down, go to sleep to the rhythm of the war drums

I'll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and all your demons

I'll be the one to protect you from
A will to survive and a voice of reason

I'll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and your choices son
They're one in the same
I must isolate you
Isolate and save you from yourself

Swayin to the rhythm of the new world order and
Count the bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums

The boogeymen are coming
The boogeymen are coming

Keep your head down, go to sleep, to the rhythm of a war drums

Stay with me
Safe and ignorant
Just stay with me
Hold you and protect you from the other ones
The evil ones
Don't love you son,
Go back to sleep

Abra,

a Perfect Circle actually did a remix to this song ("Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rythem of the War Drums"), which they dedicated to Bush. You can find it either on their most recent album, "eMotive", or their recent DVD release, "aMotion". Actually, the original concept for the song was having the lyrics conveyed from the perspective of a drug.

B...

you have to download a program called "hello" from picasa. http://www.hello.com

and then you use its bloggerbot service to upload photos to your blog...

it is all pretty easy...

Also, once it is up on the web you can then source that to your profile pic or just about anywhere...

Blue state, red state.

What's a guy like me, living in purple state, gonna
do?

Grit my teeth and bare it, I guess.
