Kick @$$ Song: Number Three

As someone who lived my adolescence through the 90's, I have an affinity for Alanis Morissette. I remember spending countless hours in my room listening to the "Jaged Little Pill" album on casette. Yup, even I am that archaic. Choosing a favorite song off the album is like choosing between Star Wars and Firefly for me, I just love it all. With that said, one particular song comes to mind, which I enjoy very much. It is one of those timeless "life" songs that are always applicable.

Oh, did I mention Alanis Morissette was "God?"

Alanis Morissette: Hand In My Pocket

I'm broke but I'm happy
I'm poor but I'm kind
I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah
I'm high but I'm grounded
I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed
I'm lost but I'm hopeful baby

What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be fine fine fine
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five

I feel drunk but I'm sober
I'm young and I'm underpaid
I'm tired but I'm working, yeah
I care but I'm worthless
I'm here but I'm really gone
I'm wrong and I'm sorry baby

What it all comes down to
Is that everything's gonna be quite alright
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is flicking a cigarette

What it all comes down to
Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving the peace sign

I'm free but I'm focused
I'm green but I'm wise
I'm shy but I'm friendly baby
I'm sad but I'm laughing
I'm brave but I'm chicken shit
I'm sick but I'm pretty baby

And what it all boils down to
Is that no one's really got it figured out just yet
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is playing the piano

What it all comes down to my friends
Is that everything's just fine fine fine
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is hailing a taxicab...

A good song, certainly. Personally, from that album I would have picked the secret track, "Your House."

That is another great song on the album. I forget how to get to it on the CD for the album though. Do you know? Is it on a different track? Or is it later on during the last track of the album?

It depends on which version of the cd you have. It may be an unindexed track after #12 "Wake Up" or it might be after the remixed version of #13 "You Oughta Know." Either way, just let the cd continue to play on and it will eventually reach the bonus track.

Thanks buddy! I'd kiss you but that may cross boundaries and I don't want to jeopardize what we do have. ;)
