Beer in the Headlights

So apparently wine consumption has risen dramatically over the past decade, while beer consumption has remained stagnant. Does this mean Americans are turning into a bunch of snobs? Ahem, I mean "connoisseurs". You can read the article here.

I suppose I am shocked by this development, considering that I always thought that in America, hating beer is like hating freedom. Do so many of us hate freedom? Why can't beer and wine coexist in harmony with one another? I certainly enjoy both.

I'm feeling a lot of love for "the worm" drink.

It would be nice to see the actual statistics, as in number of beers versus number of glasses of wine or whatever.

The article is quite surprising though, because microbrews are very popular. i guess not as popular, apparently.

Beer is gross. I drink wine or mixed drinks. It's all about taste.
Why drink beer when that represents burnt or non-existant tastebuds? Paring wine or mixed drinks with meals is especially great. If you experiece a great pairing you'd become a believer. If you've never had one then the servers are dumb.

*Sigh* What's with all the beer hate? Mark and I need to form an abused beer lover club. We could meet on a weekly basis and share our pain.

Or something like that.
